Back to cardboard...

When I did go to the local doll house store, they said they had just renovated the shop, so now it is right opposite ODEON cinema. Therefore, not all of the houses have been put out on display. I bought two tiny rolls of toilet paper and 3 little jars of sweets for a couple of pence instead, and made two cushions, just to keep myself entertained

Whilst I'm waiting, it's back to the cardboard house. It needs a lot of work, but hopefully it would be finished around Christmas. I'll try my best to keep those very few of you who are reading this updated.

Next, homework! (Joy...)
These are the two cushions I made from felt. My
little friend Radish here has managed to prop herself onto the purple
one just as I was taking the photo, so if you wanted to know, it is circular
and has a small pink heart sewn on it.

My Scruffy Cardboard Doll House

On your right is the doll house shop in Epsom

Next weekend I'm intending to go to a doll house shop, 'Dreams Can Come True', in Epsom, to buy a proper wooden doll house that I can paint and furnish, since I've just been messing about with a cardboard house that I made and stuffing it with plastic Sylvanian doll house items. I have now given up on that, it just sits in a corner collecting dust...
So, I'm really waiting for the house before I start to do any serious  making. This is the scruffy doll house. It's in such a mess! I feel so sorry for the Slydale family...

Living room
Just a little edit on this post...
I realised that there was a huge empty space that was screaming to be filled up.
Kitchen
The reason why the house is probably such a mess is because a) I didn't really dedicate much time on this thing b) I couldn't be bothered to draw out a plan, (yeah, I'm that kind of person) and c) I cut this all out from an old TV box, yes my hands were literally bright red after cutting this out. So much tape and rough edges... no wonder I can't be bothered with it - sigh. Anyways, much of the plastic furniture is some loose bits and bobs I found around the house and several pieces of Sylvanian doll house furniture: the oven, the sink (covered up with a pie and a big black bowl),red sofa, fireplace, telephone, various dressers and lamp. The rest of the stuff are things that I made. The pies and tarts - modelling clay, blue sofa in the far left 2nd floor that failed -blue satin and cardboard, small milk bottle - translucent polymer clay and the paper thingies are printies. I guess I got most of my inspiration from one of the first doll housing websites I looked at - http://www.jennifersprintables.com/, some really nice printies there.

See you soon then! xox

Introduction

I have always known I was a miniaturist, I love making and buying lots of mini and really cute things. I would say so myself  that I'm not amazingly great at making things, I tend to cut things raggedly, get glue all over the place and since I quite like to sketch things, I get my hands and fingers smothered with pencil lead, then I start making things out of white clay and yes, everything is basically ruined. I guess I'm an amateur at making things, (well, I'm still at secondary school), even though most of my posts are going to be of me attempting to make things out of polymer clay, but hopefully I will improve my crafting skills.

Nowadays I don't have much time to make things because of homework and lots of out of school activities. My hobbies, other than this, are swimming, playing the piano, cello and clarinet, sketching, dancing and watching anime (Japanese cartoons). People always wonder how I fit everything in my life, but I have one of those mums who wants their child to have everything that they didn't have as a child. So she manages to schedule everything in one week. I usually do my own creative things in the weekends when I'm not doing homework.

Here is just a random sketch of a pepper that I've just finished for homework. This year all we're going to be doing is drawing, painting, collaging etc. peppers! This is the first one.(I don't really know why I'm showing this actually...)
